The Kingston City Democratic Committee has endorsed candidates for eight seats on Kingston’s Common Council, said Committee Chair Bill Reynolds. A nomination for the 7th Ward has been deferred until the February 16 Ulster County Democratic Committee Convention at Kingston City Hall.
The following candidates received the committee’s endorsement:
Ward 1 – Incumbent Sara Pasti
Ward 2 – Incumbent Michael Tierney
Ward 3 – Newcomer Hayes Clement
Ward 4 – Newcomer Ben Falk
Ward 5 – Incumbent Teryl Mickens
Ward 6 – Incumbent Bob Dennison
Ward 7 – Nomination deferred
Ward 8 – Newcomer Ruth Katz
Ward 9 – Incumbent Michele Hirsch
“Kingston Democrats anticipate nominating a full slate of candidates for the Kingston Common Council once the process is completed,” said Reynolds. “These nominations will be the result of very spirited discussions among committee members who have put a great deal of time and effort finding interested Kingstonians to serve on the Council.”
Reynolds said a candidate will be named for the 7th Ward when Kingston Democrats reconvene 12:30pm, February 16 at Kingston City Hall.
The official party designation for all seats does not occur until the primary election in New York State is completed June 24. Early Voting will take place June 14th - June 22nd. General elections will be held November 4.
Under rules promulgated by the Ulster County Democratic Committee, the Kingston Democratic Committee no longer endorses candidates for seats on the Ulster County Legislature. UCDC governs that process, which is scheduled to take place at Kingston City Hall on February 16.
